We know that for our health, our bodies do not only need sufficient and nutritious food, but also drinks in adequate amount. But we seldom pay attention to the importance of water in our daily needs. Whereas, adequate liquid in our body make us healthy and more energetic.

Men can live long without food but cannot live longer without water. This shows the importance of water to us. Human body contains about 65 percent of water and this quantity must be maintained so that our body would be healthy, fresh and young. A body which always experienced dehydration will easily get sick. A common symptous are pale skin, increase of blood cholesterol, infection of urethra and the excretory problem such as constipation.

For our health we are advised to drink water at least 8 glasses a day. But we seldom follow the instruction for reason that drinking of water more than we normally take will make us to frequent the toilet. Actually this will only happen temporarily because our body will quickly adjust to the situation. Another reason is that because of our busy daily work we forget to drink water. Whereas it is easy to put in “drinking water” in your daily schedule. Simply
follow this 8 easy steps:

  1. Start your day with a glass of water. Your body cell needs water to build structures and liquid will protect your organs and lessen the damages due to daily stress. Water is also needed as the main lubricant of joints. To remind you to start your day by drinking water, put a glass near a water container at night before you sleep.
  1. 10 o’clock in the morning is the time to drink again. Water will help to cleanse the kidney and discard poison. Water also help to maintain the volume of blood in your body. If dehydration occurs, the volume of blood will decrease and your energy will become less. Actually the decrease in body liquid of about 1 percent can lessen the capacity of your energy. The decrease of up to 4 percent will decrease energy capacity up to one third. Drinking water in midday will make your body more energetic.
  1. In midday, before and after lunch, drink a glass of water. Water will balance electrolytes (minerals such as sodium, chloride and potassium) to help control your body temperature and blood pressure. Drinking water before lunch will help to reduce some of the food usually taken thus this can help those who are on diet.
  1. 2 o’clock in the afternoon, drink another glass of water. Body needs this valuable liquid to deliver dissolved vitamins such as Vitamin B and C, and other nutritions such as proteins and mineral.
  1. 4 o’clock in the afternoon, time to send your child to football field, doing other works in the office or whatever you do, drink a glass of water. Don’t wait until you feel thirsty. Not thirsty doesn’t mean you are not affected by dehydration. Sometimes, the sign of dehydration is misunderstood as hungry. If you overcome it with food especially sweet and salty snack, it means you are only worsening the dehydration. Furthermore, you might increase your calories which is not needed by body. Besides to satiate, water is also calory free, so you will not be overweight.
  1. Six o’clock in the evening, before dinner, don’t forget to drink water again. Remember, water is the main source of essential minerals such as magnesium, cobalt, copper and manganese which are needed by body besides other nutritions.
  1. 8 o’clock in the evening, before taking your children to bed, drink one more glass of water.
  1. 10 o’clock in the evening, end your day with one last glass of water. Water is becoming as important as your age. The older you are, the lesser our respons to conceive mechanism of thirst. Therefore, as we grow old, we better pay more attention to the quantity of water we drink daily.
